MISRA safety analysis
New document released

MISRA is pleased to announce that the new document "Guidelines for safety analysis of vehicle based programmable systems" was officially launched at the MISRA Conference held on 29 November 2007. This new document provides an extension to the original MISRA "Development Guidelines for Vehicle Based Software", in that it gives extended detailed advice on the sections on Integrity and Safety Analysis, as well as presenting additional advice on other parts of safety management and the safety lifecycle. Key features of this document include:

• Advice on safety management;
• A MISRA safety process incorporating a safety lifecyle aligned with IEC 61508 and the typical automotive development process;
• A system safety analysis process incorporating preliminary safety analysis and detailed safety analysis;
• A hazard analysis process incorporating hazard identification, hazard classification and risk analysis;
• The MISRA Risk Graph for hazard classification.
